Matthew 25 project

The Poor is at Our Door

"For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."

Our Vision

We envision Pennsylvania churches no longer stuck on the sidelines, but boldly stepping out as the hands and feet of Jesus to the poor, the homeless, and the overlooked.

The Matthew 25 Project exists to be the bridge—the medium—by which local congregations are equipped and sent to love their neighbors in practical, life-changing ways. When the church moves, cities change, and the Kingdom comes near.

Our Mission

Rooted in the clear command of Matthew 25:31–46 and an Anabaptist commitment to follow Jesus radically, we mobilize and resource churches to:

We are not another charity competing with churches—we are the catalyst that helps churches become the answer to Jesus’ question: “When did you see Me hungry, thirsty, or in prison?”

Our Heart for the Marginalized

Rooted in the message "The poor is at our door," Matthew 25 Project PA embodies radical hospitality. We are dedicated to loving and helping individuals whom society often overlooks – the homeless, the food-insecure, and those navigating challenging life transitions. Our work is a direct reflection of Matthew 25:38, serving the "least of these" with compassion and dignity.

Our Ministry In Action

Through various initiatives, the Matthew 25 Project directly engages with communities to provide practical assistance and compassionate outreach. Here are some of the key ways our ministry serves.

Feeding the Poor

From large-scale food distribution during challenging times to daily acts of kindness, Matthew 25 Project PA actively addresses food insecurity, ensuring no one in the community goes hungry.

"The Room" Community Space

A welcoming haven, "The Room" (formerly known as the Homeless Depot) offers a safe and inclusive environment for community members, fostering fellowship and connection.

Tent Makers Travels

Our "Street Smarts 101" initiative equips churches and individuals with practical skills for effective outreach to the poor in their own communities.

Take what you need. Give what you can. Above all be blessed.

"It's about seeing the humanity in everyone, connecting on a deeper level, and simply being present. When we handed out water, they saw God's love, even without us saying a word."

Guided by Faith, Driven by Action

The Matthew 25 Project PA operates on fundamental principles inspired by biblical teachings and our Anabaptist heritage. We believe in demonstrating God's love through practical service, focusing on tangible needs as a pathway to deeper transformation. Our commitment is to walk alongside individuals, offering support without judgment, and affirming the inherent worth of every person we encounter.

Radical Hospitality

Extending unconditional welcome and love to all, especially those often overlooked.

Action-Oriented Service

Our philosophy is simple: actions speak louder than words. We prioritize meeting immediate physical needs like food and shelter to build trust.

Behavior Before Belief

Creating stability and dignity can open hearts to spiritual truth.

Community Awareness

Raising consciousness about local poverty and empowering others, particularly youth, to engage in outreach.

Inclusion & Forgiveness

Embracing everyone regardless of their past, fostering an environment of grace.
